Sid Jacobs
JGS Teacher

Sid Jacobs is simply the consummate "jazz guitarist's jazz guitarist", being equal virtuosic with a pick or finger style. He possesses a pianistic modern harmonic gift second to none that calls to mind Lenny Breau, and was a devotee and close associate of the legendary Jimmy Wyble, whom he also compares to. Born In Miami, FL, Jacobs created the Advanced Bebop and Jazz Guitar course at the Dick Grove School and the Jazz Guitar class at the Musicians Institute (MI and GIT), where he continues to teach. Sid has performed with such jazz luminaries as Harold Land, Eddie Harris, Buddy Montgomery, Joe Diorio, Brad Mehldau, Larry Goldings and Javon Jackson.

Sid Jacobs - Fourths
Sid Jacobs delves into the widely not understood concepts of using fourths in your improvising, and takes you through some practical exercises to unlock how to use them through both the major and melodic minor scale. Jacobs illustrates all of this over an original blues head (which is included) as well as by soloing over "Summertime" and "All The Things You Are". The right hand picking details he goes into will be essential to really get your speed up on playing fourth patterns, which he shows by his effortless command of his picking techniques.
