Mike Miller - Creative Looping
Mike Miller (Yellowjackets, Chick Corea, Gino Vanelli, David Garfield, etc.) is one of the leading proponents of the digital looper in jazz, and uses it both live and in writing and recording his tunes. This video will show you creative ways to use a looper in a live situation to build cool and interesting textures over a jazz standard. Miller discusses how he thinks in deciding what to play on each “loop” he stacks, including how to “leave room” for each loop to come. If you’ve been intimidated at all by looper applications, this is a great primer to open you to this great way to open up the sonic possibilities on your solo gigs, or with a band.
